The third annual Bark in the Park event was held September 17th, and despite less-than-ideal weather conditions, there was a large turnout and the event was a success.
Crystal Costa of KAPP TV MC'd races, agility, costume, talent and other popular competitions. 37 dogs entered the costume contest this year, and the winner, an adorable canine posing as a peacock, received $250 as grand prize. This year's event was complete with a wine garden supplied by Antolin Cellars and Naches Heights Vineyards. The band Powerline, featuring talented singer Nicole Johnson, kept spirits up while the rain came down with toe-tapping live music throughout the event.
All said, ten dogs and two cats were adopted at Bark in the Park 2011, and over $2,300 was raised, 100% of which was donated back to the Yakima Humane Society.
